The first Women's Challenge Cup Hockey Tournament is being staged here at the National Hockey Stadium from December 30, 2012, to January 6, 2013. Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has allowed holding of this event, which will be played on single league basis. Six leading women hockey teams including WAPDA, Railways, Punjab, Sindh and Army are expected to participate in the event, among others.

Saman Rashid, who is the chief organiser of the tournament, said the main objective of the tournament is to promote national game of hockey.
